Terms and Conditions
Bookings and Payments
All prices are listed in New Zealand Dollars (NZD) and include GST unless otherwise stated. A 25% deposit is required to secure your booking. The remaining balance must be paid in full 7 days prior to departure. Payments can be made via bank transfer or credit card (credit card fees may apply). Bookings are not confirmed until a deposit has been received and a confirmation email has been issued.
Cancellations and Refunds
Cancellations made more than 30 days prior to departure will receive a full refund. Cancellations made within 7 days of departure or failure to show will result in forfeiture of the deposit. Flights postponed due to weather or operational factors will be rescheduled where possible. If rescheduling is not feasible, a full refund will be provided.
Weather and Safety
All flights are weather-dependent and subject to pilot discretion. Safety is our highest priority. We reserve the right to delay, modify, or cancel flights at any time due to weather, safety concerns, or operational requirements. All passengers must follow the pilot’s instructions at all times.
We reserve the right to refuse, delay, modify, discontinue, or terminate any flight at any stage if continuing the flight would compromise the safety of the aircraft, passengers, crew, or any other person.
Main Divide Helicopters reserves the right to substitute or change the aircraft used for any flight at its discretion due to operational, maintenance, safety, or other operational requirements. Specific aircraft types cannot be guaranteed unless confirmed in writing.
Passenger Requirements and Baggage
Passenger weight limits apply and will be confirmed prior to departure. Due to aircraft limitations, baggage is restricted. Please check in advance if you wish to bring personal items such as camera gear or backpacks. Dangerous goods, including flammable items or aerosols, are prohibited unless declared and approved in accordance with aviation regulations.
Drones and Unmanned Aircraft
For the safety of our passengers, crew, and aircraft, the use of drones or any other unmanned aircraft is strictly prohibited during any Main Divide Helicopters flight experience unless prior written approval has been obtained from Main Divide Helicopters.
Passengers must not operate, launch, land, or fly drones from any helicopter landing site, alpine landing area, private property, or location visited as part of the flight experience without the express permission of Main Divide Helicopters and any relevant landowners or authorities.
Main Divide Helicopters reserves the right to refuse carriage or discontinue a flight without refund if a passenger’s use of a drone creates a safety risk, breaches aviation regulations, or fails to comply with these terms and conditions.
Liability
Main Divide Helicopters accepts no responsibility for loss, damage, or injury to passengers or personal property during the flight, except where required by law. Participation in scenic flights is at the passenger’s own risk.
Passenger Conduct
Disruptive, unsafe, or unlawful behavior will not be tolerated and may result in removal from the aircraft or cancellation of the flight without refund. Passengers must comply with all instructions given by the pilot and ground crew to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Changes to Pricing and Terms
Prices and terms are subject to change without notice. The terms and conditions applicable at the time of booking will apply to your flight. Any updates to these terms will be posted on our website and are available upon request.
Minimum Passenger Numbers
Some flight experiences are subject to minimum passenger numbers. Where a booking does not meet the minimum required numbers, Main Divide Helicopters reserves the right to reschedule the flight, combine bookings, offer an alternative experience, or apply a surcharge to operate the flight.
If an acceptable alternative cannot be arranged, guests will be offered a full refund of any payments made. Main Divide Helicopters will make reasonable efforts to notify guests of any changes as soon as practicable.
Declaring Dangerous Goods
You must declare all dangerous goods items to your pilot prior to flying with us. These need to be available for the pilot to see. For more information on what dangerous goods can be carried, please contact us direct or speak to your pilot.
